Real Friends - A Poem

Much is written about romantic love
How angels brought him to you from up above
But not enough about friendships that last
Those who really know you and remember your past
The bad choices you made that they supported you through
The losers, bad hairdos, and crappy jobs, too
They’ve laughed until you both snorted wine out your nose
And cried a thousand tears when life was more thorny than rose
Real friends tell you the truth when you’re not being legit
When your attitude sucks and you’re acting like a twit
If your dress is not flattering and you’re pants are too tight
If you’ve had more than your share of rum for the night
When you‘re being stupid and feeling self-doubt
Real friends know exactly how to get you out
Of your funk and to make you whole again
Real friends are those who will be there to the end.

Thanks to all my Real Friends. Wouldn’t have enjoyed my life to date as much without you.
